I’ve been searching for an easy way to backup my files. I use Linux as my daily driver and there are so many ways to backup files. As I said I wanted something easy. I also want it to be encrypted for security.

Borg is a popular choice for end users but can be stressful to setup. However there is a GUI front end called Vorta and it simplifies things but it can be easier. Something that gives Mac’s Time Machine vibe of easy. Pika Backup is another GUI front end for Borg and it fits the bill.

With an old 2TB WD Passport I can create a encrypted backup in a couple of minutes. I can also set a schedule for the backups.

Before I would just ran a script to copy my home directory to my NAS via RSYNC and having a drive mapped. This worked fine but sometimes it would screw up.

So if you’re in the need for an easy way to backup files in Linux then check out Pika Backup.
