A month or two ago I started to build a new workbench in the Garage. I had it framed up and wired up in a single day.
I finally broke down and bought some plywood. Since I have a SantaFe I could only fit 4×4 foot sheets of plywood and I was stuck getting the sanded 1/4inch sheets.

I put filler where the two sheets meet. Somehow I was a 1/4 higher on the right side backboard. Didn’t realize it until I had it mounted.
I didn’t want the bare wood look so when I was at the store getting the plywood I bought some Satin Black acrylic paint.

With some cheap 20 light fixtures it really dressed things up and added some needed light to the bench.
The light switch is on the left side and I have an outlet on the front. Since the depth of the bench is 33inches I don’t have to over reach on the bench to plug something in.
If I was to do this again I would of bought the top first. When I was at Lowes there is an aisle that has the premium woods including butcher block. For 50 bucks I could of gotten a 1inch thick 3 1/2ft by 2ft butcher block top.
The price for this bench was like 40 bucks. The frame was from scrap wood that was free. The plywood was 100 bucks but I was given 50 bucks from a customer as a tip the day before and when I got home from Lowes there was a community yard sale going and I made another 50 bucks sailing a few of air compressor tools. So the cost was for paint and the lights.
